Executed Projects

Capacity-Building Project

In early December 2025, our Association received funding through the Black Canadian Communities Initiative (SBCCI), administered by Tropicana Community Services. This support enabled us to strengthen our organizational capacity and improve our governance, communication, and community engagement systems.

The project included comprehensive board governance and leadership training to enhance the Board’s understanding of its responsibilities in strategic planning, oversight, and organizational development. We also designed, tested, and implemented a performance evaluation system, including reporting templates to support the annual assessment of the Board’s effectiveness.

In addition, we redesigned, tested, and launched a new interactive and accessible website featuring organizational information, programs, services, and tools for online community engagement. We established and strengthened social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram, while developing community engagement templates and providing training for staff and volunteers.

The project also involved reviewing leadership positions, preparing succession plans, and developing mentorship and onboarding guidelines to support continuity and effective transitions.

Finally, we assessed existing communication practices, consulted stakeholders, and developed a comprehensive communication framework addressing branding, outreach, public relations, and media engagement.

Together, these activities improved our Association’s governance, visibility, accountability, sustainability, and ability to serve the community effectively.

Canadian Heritage Events

For the past three years, our Association has received financial support from Canadian Heritage to organize Canada Day celebrations. This funding enables us to showcase Cameroonian culture through traditional dances and share authentic Cameroonian dishes with the broader community. It also supports the organization of a soccer tournament, bringing participants and families together in a spirit of inclusion, cultural appreciation, and community engagement. These activities promote intercultural understanding, strengthen community connections, and provide an opportunity for Canadians from diverse backgrounds to celebrate together while recognizing and sharing the rich cultural heritage of Cameroon.
